Utility & Energy

Distributed utility networks require precise asset visibility, network intelligence and timely operational insight. Our connected utility intelligence integrates Utility GIS, network mapping, IoT, Field GIS, asset tracking, network analytics, EAM, WebGIS and operational dashboards to connect field operations with enterprise decision-making.

The problem

The network changes faster than the records do

Utility operators may know where their networks are, but maintaining an accurate view of what exists along them is a continuous challenge. Repairs, replacements, new construction, vegetation growth, encroachments and asset deterioration can quickly make field conditions differ from what is recorded in the asset register. By the time an inspection cycle comes around, teams may be working with information that is incomplete, outdated or difficult to verify.

The challenge is not simply locating the network. It is keeping asset condition, location and changes on the ground aligned with the records used to manage it.

In detail

Why a thermal anomaly is not automatically a fault

A thermal survey identifies temperature anomalies; it does not, by itself, establish their cause. Surface emissivity, solar loading, ambient conditions and electrical load can all influence the temperature recorded at an asset. A useful finding therefore needs to be assessed against comparable assets under comparable conditions, with the relevant survey and operating conditions documented alongside the measurement.

The visual inspection provides the context thermal data cannot: whether an anomaly corresponds to a loose connection, damaged insulator, corrosion, vegetation or another visible condition. Combining thermal and visual evidence allows findings to be located, assessed and prioritised with greater confidence.

What a network operator actually asks for

Corridor & Network Mapping

Mapping transmission and distribution corridors, including structures, alignment, crossings and required clearances.

Thermal & Visual Inspection

Detect and assess thermal anomalies across conductors, connections, insulators and substation equipment, with visual evidence for context.

Vegetation & Encroachment Monitoring

Identify vegetation growth and encroachments within the right of way and measure their proximity to network assets.

Renewable Asset Inspection

Inspect solar modules and wind turbine components using thermal and visual data, alongside topographic surveys for site development and commissioning.

Pipeline & Right of Way (ROW) Mapping

Survey oil and gas corridors, map pipeline alignments and monitor right-of-way conditions, encroachments and visible changes.

Asset Register & GIS Update

Reconcile field-observed assets with existing records, identify discrepancies and update the geospatial database for ongoing network management.
